| Redirect towards good behaviour |
Use the redirection principle:
1- When the cat scratches a sofa, redirect him towards a scratching pad.
2- When the cat goes on counter to rest, redirect him toward a cushion.
3- Give the cat a toy to replace the plants, etc.
Generalize to optimize area size
In order to generalize your cat learning, you can move the
SSSCAT a few feet away from its original place.
This way, your cat will not only avoid one particular area,
(Ex. the counter), he will soon avoid it completely.
Reinforce the good behaviour
Use positive reinforcement (food or petting) when your cat respects the zone
or the redirection principal. Ex: When the cat uses his scratching pad give
him a treat.
